Why I began writing

When my daughter was 3 years old I wanted her to read good, fun, children’s stories.  Some of the fairy tales weren’t as good as the ones I had read when I was little.  The fairy tale books that she got as presents were dark and gloomy and the pictures were a bit scary for a little child.  So I wondered if I could write children’s story and give my daughter something to read.

"I used to wonder what was God's plan for my life. I kept thinking I'd love to help children - but in what way? And then realised I really felt sad to see so many kids in India don't have a real holiday (meaning being able to go away and spend a few days having fun) and that is either because their parents are too busy or because of no money. My daughter was the prime example of this. I used to wish we had holiday camps in India like those I've read about in other countries.
Some of my friends would tell me of how their kids would get bored sitting at home while both mum and dad had to work. While thinking of this I felt God was talking to me directly when I heard a preachers talking about a great need for child ministry and saying do what God has put on your heart. So I decided that this is what I'd like to do.
And then I came up against the problem of no money. So that is when I kept thinking of exactly what God said to Moses "What is in your hand?" I thought about it and realised it was my two books which if I published them I'd be able to have money to start and fund my holiday camp."
